Waterfowl Weekend Kick-Off
Friday Evening, December 3rd
A night of Christmas decorations all over the Island including the museum. Carvers, artists and crafters will be on hand outside, the Gallery of Trees will be on full display, the Museum Store open for business and the Carolina Decoy Collectors Display will be in place.
Core Sound Waterfowl Weekend
Saturday & Sunday, December 4th-5th
As always, our Weekend is free to everyone!
We are excited to welcome Waterfowl Weekend friends and family once again! We will be enjoying the combination inside-outside activities all day Saturday and Sunday!
Tailgating will begin at 9am Saturday with carvers, collectors, artists, photographers and crafters here to help you with your Christmas shopping. The Museum Store will be open 9am to 5pm or so, with crab pot trees and a new collection of Christmas collectibles. The online auction will close at 7pm.
Our partners, the Carolina Decoy Collectors Association, will host a special exhibition for the Weekend and educational opportunities will be back with a focus on oyster season – past and present!
A booksigning will be held from 11am-2pm with favorite authors Bland & Ann Simpson, Eddie Nickens and Georgann Eubanks. The Museum Store will be overflowing (inside and out) with Core Sound Christmas collectibles, shirts, ornaments and gifts for you to share with family and friends.
The Gallery of Trees will tell Core Sound’s story with lots of Down East creativity, love and Christmas Spirit!
Sunday will be our best yet with Core Sound Church at 8 am (breakfast is back!) and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band’s Christmas concert at 12:30, along with a special tribute to all WWII Veterans is recognition of Pearl Harbor Day on December 7th. Bring your favorite Veteran, have lunch with us and enjoy the music!
**Throughout the Weekend, all Covid-19 precautions - including masks, temperature checks, limited entry and social distancing - will be in place to protect the safety of all who participate and in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
