Community roundtable
Wednesday, January 17 - CSWM&HC, Harkers Island
OPEN HOUSE 10 am – 7:30 pm
Drop-Ins Welcome
Roundtable discussions with insurance specialists: 10:30, 1:30, 4:30 and 6:30
To help with planning, please register below.
You do not have to pre-register to attend.
Representatives from NC Dept of Insurance, NC Dept of Public Safety, FEMA, NC Office of Recovery & Resilience, the national flood insurance program and other specialists in property insurance will be here to answer your questions throughout the day. Policy reviews are welcome.
Our goal is to give community members the opportunity to ask these questions:
Are you ready for the next storm? the next high tide? or the next north'easter?
Is your home or business in a flood zone? What does that mean? Do you have questions re flood maps?
Do you need flood insurance? Can you afford flood insurance? Can you afford not to have it?
What resources does FEMA provide for pre-storm mitigation, post-storm recovery, and/or long-term resilience?
What companies are still covering eastern North Carolina? What is the long-term projection for these companies?
This day-long schedule of opportunities is for local property owners to learn more about their current insurance coverage in an effort to be better prepared for the future. This is not an insurance sales pitch, but rather an opportunity to learn more about what your needs may be.
This OPEN HOUSE OPPORTUNTIY is a recommendation from the Down East Resilience Network meetings held in Sept 2023. Our goal is to provide resources for local residents to gain a better understanding of their current insurance coverage and how best to be prepared BEFORE the needs are urgent.
*Food will be available throughout the day for lunch, supper, and snacks. Special thanks to Chalk & Gibbs Insurance for supporting this community discussion.
